Fill the valleys and lower the mountains for Jesus Christ to have a straight path!: 2nd Sunday in Advent

Listen to the homily here.

Notes:

John the Baptist, quoting Isaiah:
·     “the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the desert.
John went throughout the whole region of the Jordan,
proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins
as it is written in the book of the words of the prophet Isaiah:
·     Prepare the way of the Lord,
make straight his paths.
Every valley shall be filled
and every mountain and hill shall be made low.
The valley in our spiritual lives: Seven deadly sins and how do we build against them?
·     Pride/humility
·     Envy/kindness
·     Wrath/forgiveness
·     Sloth/diligence
·     Greed/charity
·     Gluttony/temperance
·     Lust/chastity
How about our mountains that we must knock them down?
·     Materialism—give it away
·     Money—give it away
·     Binging—TV, youtube, Netflix, Amazon—stop it
·     Power—work with a team
·     Famous—bring the focus to other people
·     Pornography—stop it
Finally, as we do the best we can to pave the road to our heart, know another great author describing Jesus Christ as the real one that is looking for us better than us looking for him!
·     Francis Thomson: The Hound of Heaven
Rise, clasp My hand, and come!’
  Halts by me that footfall:
  Is my gloom, after all,
Shade of His hand, outstretched caressingly?
  ‘Ah, fondest, blindest, weakest,
I am He Whom thou seekest!
Thou dravest love from thee, who dravest Me.’
