A homily buffet: 16th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Listen to the homily here.

Notes:

This weekend I would like to share several “short” homilies

1.)   For your might is the source of justice; your mastery over all things makes you lenient to all.”
·      Do you know, that last week the Servants of Shelter serve the homeless in our community and now they can support three families
·      Our closing day will be on July 28th
o   I believe that we are following Jesus Christ, our shepherd Pope Francis and our Bishop Paul Sirba
o   By selling our property we open the doors to support those who are addicted, mental illness and detox
2.)   Jesus gave several parables
·      Good and bad seeds (or the wheat and tares)
o   “…if you pull up the weeds you might uproot the wheat along with them.  Let them grow together until harvests.”
o   Good and evil exists together in the world
o   This harvest is the end of our lives and Jesus is simply teaching that we can go in heaven or hell
o   Where will you go?
·      Mustard seed
o   A small seed that can grow large
o   We each begin with a small seed of faith
o   Where is your soul?
·      Yeast
o   A small measure of yeast can leaven a whole batch
o   What “yeast” will leaven your soul?
With these several thoughts, take one of these to discern how God is speaking with you at Mass today
