Two quick phrases: "...the Word of God is not chained," and "...thank Him"!: 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Listen to the homily here.

Notes:

Some thoughts this weekend, and please listen to some of these simple words and open your heart to what the Holy Spirit may prick your spiritual journey
·      That could be an intuition, a peek in your mind, or something triggering your conscience
the word of God is not chained.”
·      God’s Word
o   The word could mean Jesus Christ
o   The word could also mean the Scriptures
·      Jesus Christ was never chained, even though he did have physical chains in his Passion…but he rose from the dead
o   While Jesus Christ may have chains in the world:
§  Like Christians that are being killed in the Middle-East and right now being killed in Syria
§  Or when we put Jesus Christ’s light are at our home with a lamp on the wall or on a table, but is under a bed or under a bushel basket in our public lives
§  Or when I was in challenged in college (as a Catholic College as a Catholic) while every other denomination or religion or atheism were protected, but not Jesus Christ
o   Jesus Christ has no chains that you should share
·      Or the Scriptures
o   Which we listen at every Mass, or read the Bible every day
o   Does it have not chains but dust in your home?
o   Does it have chains with out a Bible itself? (Which you can have a free Bible here)?
Another quick verse in Gospel today
·      "Ten were cleansed, were they not?  Where are the other nine? Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?"
·      Do you thank God after you eat?  After the end of the day?  Your car or truck?  After catching a fish or shooting a buck?  Being healed from a cold, or an injury, or a surgery?  Do you thank God that you are still alive?

Take some time during this Mass, this day, and this week to discern how to unbreak any chains with Jesus Christ, your Bible, or thanking God for everything He has given you.
