Parish Bulletin Article: "Triple Whammies in May...and More": 4-29-18

Buckle up for a great month in May with a triple whammy and more.  As Spring has sprung outside (and we hope it continues), we will have another Spring for our souls.
On Sunday, May 13th, our juniors will be confirmed at our 10:30 Mass with Bishop Paul Sirba.  I hope this excites you, as the sacrament of Confirmation empowers the gifts and fruits from the Holy Spirit.  As we welcome these juniors, take some time to think about what types of gifts—wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lordand fruits—charity, joypeacepatiencekindnessgoodness, generosity, gentlenessfaithfulness, modesty, self-control, and chastity.—that God has given you.
On Sunday, May 20th, our second graders will be receiving their first communion with Jesus’ Body and Blood.  For the first time in their lives, they will be welcoming to the feast at Mass, as Jesus Christ gives us spiritual food for the journey.  A few thoughts for you as the angelic students open their hearts to Jesus: Do you remember your first communion?  What is the essential reception for communion?  How do you prepare your heart before Mass?
On Sunday, May 27th, our seniors can attend our Baccalaureate Mass at 10:30.  Each of them, as well as their family members, will have a reserved pew. The point for this Mass is to continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ and offer prayers for those students who will be walking forward in a different place in their lives.
And, May is also the month for our Mother Mary, and—never forget—all Mother’s Day!
            Enjoy this month!
            God Bless!
