Conform ourselves to God's will: 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Listen to the homily here.

Notes:

St. Paul wrote to the Romans: “Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God…
·      The “age” is similar in history against morality
For instance
·      The culture of Jesus’ life, killed him
·      The culture of the Romans believed in polytheism—“gods and goddesses,” child abuse, slavery, adultery and prostitution
·      Our culture today: secularization, euthanisation, abortion, pornography, human trafficking, addictions, abuse, violence, racism, calling “marriage” beyond one man and one woman
Do you believe our morality in our Catholic Church?
·      Archbishop Fulton Sheen said, “There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate The Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.”
Study it!  Go deeper than clips in the media and find the truth: Bible, Catechism of the Catholic Church
·      Also, pray with the words from Jeremiah:
o   You duped me, O LORD, and I let myself be duped;
you were too strong for me, and you triumphed.
All the day I am an object of laughter;
everyone mocks me.”
o   Jeremiah, prophets, psalms show emotions that we do experience as following God’s will
And Jesus encourages and challenges us today?

·      "Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me…For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory,
and then he will repay all according to his conduct."
