Salt, light and the City on a mountain
Salt

"You are the salt of the earth.”

Salt back then was to season food…also preserve meat
o
But Jesus shows about a deeper level

“But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but
to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
o
Our faith—our relationship with
Christ—should season our brother and
sisters life
Light
·
In Jesus’ time there was no
electricity…they had to oil with lamps to keep the light during darkness
·
“You are the light of the world.”
·
We
know that there is darkness in our world
o
Sin, violence, terrorism
·
We
must show the light of Christ!
City on a mountain
·
In history, cities were on the top of plateaus, or even a
mountain
o
Showed for traveling in the darkness
·
What is our city?
·
Our church
o
Look at our steeple
in this area
o
Listen to the bells
Salt,
light and the city on the mountain

Season, and preserve our church in our society
·
Show light against the darkness
·
Stand up with our church—a city on the mountain—to show the
directions to God
