The dialogue between Jesus and the unclean demon is
important to consider in our own society.
The demon begins, “What have you to
do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?”
Many today share similar sentiments. They say that God or the Catholic Church seek merely to
destroy our freedom of thought, desire for pleasure or independence.
Always
the gentlemen, Jesus listens to the demon and then gives his reply, “Be quiet! Come out of him!”
Whenever we are confronted with the temptation that the Church, or even
God, desires anything less than our happiness, peace and joy we need to tell
these temptations, “Be quiet!”
Only
in God can we find true happiness here on earth. Only through His Church can we find a guide to navigate us through
this life and experience the peace that only God can give.
