Three lenses in our readings today: 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Listen to the homily here.

Notes:

Today I would like to talk about three different lenses for our readings
1.     Leprosy
·      A brutal disease of the skin
·      Basically dying outside before inside
·      I saw a documentary video about leprosy in a village in Ghana, Africa—people actually still have leprosy today
·      They were “Unclean” and they were quarantined
·      Connection between the reading in the Gospel and the book of Leviticus
o   He went to the priest for a sacrifice to God
2.     What did the leprosy man in a deeper place?
·      A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, "If you wish, you can make me clean."
·      He knelt down!
·      Now, on the skin level, he was healed!  "I do will it.  Be made clean."
·      In our lives, how often do you kneel?
o   Mass
o   Adoration?
o   Before your bed?
o   Before a cross?
3.     What did Jesus after this healing?
·      He remained outside in deserted places,
·      Why?  He was praying
·      How do you visit in deserted places to be with God?
o   Lent is on the way
o   Eucharistic Adoration
o   Opportunity across the river

Pray with these readings to able to see the different lenses that you can see in the Bible
