As our schools finished for 2016-2017 I would like to offer
a few ways for your body, mind and soul.
In a special way, many students, graduates and teachers might receive
many moments to grow through a relaxation season. At the same time, I hope that this article can support each
of our lives.
This
is a great time to exercise, jump into hobbies, go outside and visit social
events for your body. Each of
these can support health that serves not only your body, but your mind and soul
as well!
It
is also a wonderful time to read.
Check out a great novel and read some spiritual books, especially the
Bible and the hundreds offered free or loaned from our library. Like our whole body, the more we can
strengthen our minds the more we can get better. As it has been said well, “If you don’t use it, you will
lose it.”
This
season may allow more time for your soul too. Make sure you can make it to Mass on the weekends. Check out a daily Mass with yourself or
your family. Spend some time to
pray at home, in a boat, outside, in our parish or our Eucharistic Adoration
chapel. A few moments with God can
change your life.
Finally,
I would like to challenge myself and you to go against our culture which is
filled with unreality. According to
a dictionary, unreality is: “the quality of being imaginary, illusory, or
unrealistic.” How much time can
you use in reality—nature, relationships and health versus television, movies,
cell phones, social media and media?
While I do not say these are bad, I assume that many of us can balance
them to channel our lives.
Know
of my prayers for all of us—God created each of us as a temple for the Holy
Spirit. Let us continue to open
the doors of our house to serve us and our Lord during this wonderful season.
God
Bless!
