(Listen to this homily here).
Our reading from Acts features a sermon by St. Paul. In the span of about ten verses, Paul
covers all of salvation history. I
mean, he goes from Israel in Egypt to the judges and prophets (Samuel) to the
monarchy to John the Baptist.
What
is Paul doing? He is telling the story of salvation history. He quickly showed how the men and women
to which he was preaching were connected with the Israelites of old. All of this was to show how God
continues to unfold his plan of salvation to the nations.
This
begs the question—do you know our story? Not only this, but also, could you
quickly tell our story to others?
At
every Mass, we reflect on our story
in the Scriptures. Continue to
learn about our story so you may share it more easily with all you meet.
