Peace and/or evilness: Thursday, October 20th, 2016

Visit on the phone with an individual to speak about voting

·      I hope that we have peace on earth in our lives

·      Jesus said: “Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?  No, I tell you, but rather division.”

Is Jesus Christ teaching us about peace in our world?

·      Yes and no

·      Yes—Jesus taught about no violence, (peace: “Do not resist one who is evil.  But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also”)

But here is a “no” from Jesus

·      Our world is fallen

·      Each of us are sinful

·      We humans have killed each other from the son of Adam and Eve to every generation in our humanity

o   Sticks, bow and arrows, knives, guns

Yes…we must be peaceful as we follow with Jesus Christ

·      But at the same time, Jesus Christ knows that there is a fight with evil

·      Again, that is why Jesus taught us “Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?  No, I tell you, but rather division.”
