As I wrote about the bell at St.
Thomas Aquinas, I would like to share another connection between this bell as
well as all of our parishioners.
There is a cool prayer called The
Angelus Prayer. This prayer
was offered at 6:00am, 12:00pm and 6:00pm in the history of our Church and even
today.
I learned this prayer while I was
in the seminary. As we heard the
time from the bell we paused to offer this prayer. Many places around the world continue with this prayer in
Churches, communities and with those at work. It takes a few minutes and supports us to pray throughout
the day. Another time for this
prayer can be used before or after breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We will buy many holy cards for The Angelus Prayer that could be used to
learn this prayer, especially through the bell or your time. For now, this is what this prayer is:
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.
R. Be it done unto me according to Your Word.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. And the Word was made flesh,
R. And dwelt among us.
Hail Mary, etc...
V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech You, O Lord,
that as we have known the incarnation of Christ,
your Son by the message of an angel,
so by His passion and cross
Through the same Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
God Bless!
