The second letter of Peter (probably not written by St. Peter but attributed to him--a common practice in ancient times and even now [ex--speech writers for our president, committees to draft pontifical documents, etc.]) urges Christians on to salvation. To do this they must remain steadfast in the teachings of Christ through the apostles and wait with patience for the day of the Lord. Thoughts on 2 Peter can be found here.
