Parish Bulletin Article: "Finish Line with Raffle Tickets and Learning with Bishop Barron": 2-24-19

This weekend is our last weekend to sell for the Catholic United Financial raffle tickets.  We are so close to heading towards the finish line for our $25,000 goal, and I also hope we may receive another $3,000 grant from Catholic United Financial!
Thank you, and I am proud of each of you during this process: our parents, children, volunteers, friends, parishioners, employees, and donators! Keep rolling, brothers and sisters, as the finish line is at 11:59:59pm as we can still sell until that time.  Let’s do it!
I also want to thank Anthony and Theresa Stone as they shared last weekend about the “CATHOLICISM: Pivotal Players” by Bishop Robert Barron.  Once again, we will be watching these DVDs during the four Sundays in March as part of our mission for the season of Lent.
I would also recommend several other opportunities to learn about theology, philosophy, Scriptures, history, secularism, religion, morality, Christology, Trinity, evangelization and especially Catholicism with Bishop Barron. Here are some of my favorite occasions to listen, watch or read as Bishop Barron is one of my favorite teachers in our society today:
·     Watch: “CATHOLICISM Film,” the whole series of “CATHOLICISM: PIVOTAL PLAYERS,” and “The Mass DVD.”
·     Listen: YouTube presentations with many of the above areas, as well as our society, culture, movies, and media, as well as his Sunday homilies on https://www.wordonfire.org/resources/homily/ or via iTunes) which all are free).
·     Read: Articles, responses, and three essential books: “Seeds of the Word: Finding God in the Culture,” “To Light a Fire on the Earth,” and “Arguing Religion: A Bishop Speaks at Facebook and Google.”

Thank you all, and God Bless!
