We
continue to walk through the rich season of Easter. As Lent was 40 days, Easter is 50 days! Actually, the last day in this season
is called Pentecost, the solemn liturgy on the 50th day.
We
have many gifts from the Holy Spirit this season in our spiritual lives. We will welcome our juniors on Sunday,
May 7th as Bishop Paul Sirba will lay his hands and use the Chrism
oil for their confirmation. On
Sunday, May 21st, our second graders will receive their first
communion through Jesus’ Body and Blood.
We will also celebrate the Ascension of the Lord (when Jesus rose to
heaven)—May 27th and 28th—and the reception of the Holy
Spirit on Pentecost—June 3rd and 4th.
We
will also continue to pray for some gifts through our physical world: a garage
sale, a cool evening with our school, our closing day for our house, the buying
a new house and discerning the future for our buildings.
I
am proud for all of our parishioners who serve, volunteer, support and walk
with each other to follow God’s will for St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Columban
parishes. God always shows us what
we need, both in the spiritual and the physical worlds.
Continue
to follow our shepherd—Jesus Christ!
God
Bless!
