Notes:
As we welcome at Mass this evening, we do so in a couple of
ways
This is the last day of this month
·
The last day in the month of those who have died
o Our
book of life
o We
actually pray for those who have died every day in the year at Mass
·
“Remember also our brothers and sisters who have
fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your
mercy: welcome them into the light of your face.”
·
We gather tonight to welcome those who continue
to grieve and pray for loved ones
Second, this is a feast for St. Andrew
·
Matthew 4: “As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon
who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew, casting a net into the sea; they
were fishermen. He said to them,
‘Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men.’”
·
Peter and Andrew, brothers
·
Fishermen
·
Disciples and apostles of Jesus
Christ
·
Andrew gave his life—he died too—a
martyr on a cross
o
St. Andrew Cross on the chasuble
Jesus
Christ died himself
·
Out of the twelve apostles, 10 of them died after Jesus began
his Church
Finally,
each of us is to follow Jesus Christ:
·
Roman 10:9: “If
you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
·
Grow in relationship with Jesus
Christ
·
Mass, like this evening, each
Sunday…Monday-Thursday
·
Mission next week
·
Books for free
Please
continue with the process of grieving for loved ones…and move forward with our
savior
